Abstract
On the strength of numerous individuals of a new Solenogastres genus Genitoconia, the anatomical and histological structures are described in detail from a comparative point of view. The genus is characterized in particular by a highly specialized copulatory organ within the genital apparatus and shows a peculiar appendage on the connexion of the ventral ganglia: a so-called pedal commissure-sack. The type species Genitoconia rosea possesses a heavy muscular foregut, while G. atriolonga, the second new form, is marked by a lengthened atrial cavity and a diverticle of the prepedal groove. In both species the respiratory folds appear only in the fully mature state. Diverse morphological and functional problems of the digestive system and of the pallial cavity are compared and discussed; it is stated that on the one hand the contents of the salivary glands dissolve tissue and that therefore the animals take their food mainly by sucking, and that on the other hand the rostral part of the pallial cavity is considered to have no taxonomical value. The two new species are free-living predatory animals crawling on a mucus thread upon the mud. They devour Cnidaria, the nettle capsules of which, remarkably enough, are also enclosed within the integument of two Turbellaria species, inhabitants of the same bottom. In addition a form of the second Aplacophora group Caudofoveata is described: Crystallophrisson sterreri sp. n. The sole specimen is represented only by a double slide; it is clearly distinguished, however, as a new species by the habitus and the structure of the radula-apparatus.Keywords
