Ultrasonic attenuation and phase velocity measurements in the frequency range 10–500 MHz have been performed in the vicinity of the 290 K paramagnetic‐ferromagnetic transition of MnP. Longitudinal waves propagating along the principal axes exhibit critical attenuation and dispersion and detailed measurements along the a‐axis reveal that the temperatures of the attenuation and velocity extrema depend on the ultrasonic frequency. Below Tc, transverse waves exhibit non‐critical attenuation which depends on the particular sample studied and on its thermal history.
