Abstract
Naturally occurring and synthetic bioregulators have an important role in the growth and development processes of plants. They also induce the biosynthesis of allelochemicals, secondary plant constituents giving either the plant or the pest an adaptive advantage. Thus, these allelochemicals can protect the plant against infection and injury by phytophagous pests. Consequently, the chemistry and action of these bioregulators is of interest because of their abilities to improve yield and crop quality.
