Abstract
The detailed behavior of circular bend attenuation in GaAs/AlGaAs rib waveguides is explored both experimentally and theoretically. Our results show a strong polarization dependence of the bend loss and coherent coupling oscillations much weaker than predicted by beam-propagation calculations. Keywords
