Abstract
An asymptotic form of the total wave function for electron-impact excitation of hydrogen atoms is obtained by the use of the Coulomb Green function. The result is compared with the corresponding usual form, obtained through the free-particle Green function. The validity of the Coulomb wave formulation is upheld in view of the physical quantities being finite definite. Keywords
