Physical Properties of Weft Knitted Fabrics

Abstract
The geometrical dimensions of weft knitted fabrics made of polyester and polyamide (twisted and textured) yarns and their effect on the tensile properties of these fabrics are discussed. Tests show that textured yarn fabrics have a higher elastic recovery than twisted yarn fabrics. All fabrics show higher elastic recovery when they are stretched in the wale direction rather than the course direction. The air permeability of textured fabrics is half that of fabrics made of twisted yarns.
