Abstract
Eighty-three national and international men and women tennis players were studied to determine the effects of excessive physical training on one upper extremity. Results indicated significant changes in the range of motion, grip strength, and girth of the playing arm when compared to the opposite extremity. The relative movement patterns of the tennis serve were analyzed in relation to possible areas of stress to the capsule, musculature, and ligamentous structures of the elbow and shoulder to determine the mechanisms for the physical changes that were seen. Keywords
