Abstract
The concept of a ray path in a fluctuating environment is examined and found to result in a nonlinear equation of motion for the unit vector everywhere tangent to the ray path. The equation of evolution for the probability distribution describing how the fluctuations in the ray path fill phase space is constructed using a projection-operator technique. Approximations to this general equation and the solutions thereof are discussed. Keywords
