Abstract
The soils of the six main geological types in the forests of the Eden area were sampled at three depths and analysed for pH, organic matter content, nitrogen, phosphorus and exchangeable calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and aluminium. The Ordovician marine sediments had the highest nutritional status while the late Tertiary alluvial sediments had the lowest. The soil nutrient contents expressed in kg/ha, are discussed.
