Abstract
The author''s many yrs. of investigation of the geography and resources of the country are reflected in the remarkably high reliability of the materials used in the prepn. of the map. The vegetation types used are (1) Forest, (2) Woodland, (3) Bush-land and Thicket, (4) Wooded Grassland, (5) Grassland, (6) Permanent Swamp Vegetation, (7) Desert and Semidesert, (8) Vegetation Actively Induced by Man. Each type is briefly defined, and there is a brief account of subtypes and transitional types. There is also a comparison of this with earlier maps. The map is on a scale of 1: 2,000,000, and there are small inset maps, one showing the relative reliability of the data used, and one showing the distribution of the baobab. Significant features of the main map are the very small area of forest, the large areas of woodland, bushland, and grassland; and, the exceedingly small areas showing Actively induced Vegetation by Aliens.
