Local Leaders

Abstract
Local leaders of projects are used largely in Illinois especially in staging demonstrations. We have had the best of success in pushing project work by means of this plan. The project leaders are coached regarding details and methods. Other farmers learn by seeing results. Imitation leads some farmers to follow the new methods. Jealousy spurs others to grasp for a share of the evident success which the local leader has achieved. All gain assurance of success and confidence in their own ability by watching the accomplishments of the local leader. Young men usually make the best leaders. The selection should be confined to those who are already “good farmers” in general, and who desire to improve in the particular line to be demonstrated.
