SYNTHESIS AND REACTIONS OF SOME THIENOPYRIDINE DERIVATIVES

Abstract
Substituted thieno[2,3-b]pyridines (VIII-XII) were prepared by ring closure of the corresponding S-alkylated derivatives (II-VI). Thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-2-carbohydrazide XIII was interacted with some reagents afforded the expected pyridothienopyrirnidines (XIV-XVI). Also, the carboazide XVII undergo Curtius rearrangement giving imidazolothienopyridine (XVIII). The carboxarnide derivatives (X-XII) interacted with CS2 giving pyridothienopyrirnidines (XX-XXII), while interaction with nitrous acid, pyridothienotriazines (XXIII-XXV) were produced.
