A statistical analysis failed to demonstrate a significant difference in the postoperative course of digitalized and not digitalized patient, who underwent mitral surgery. The clinical observations support the value of preoperative digitalization of fibrillating patients, while great caution is recommended for patientswith sinus rhythm.
