Abstract
A formula for a blood-free medium for cultivation of P. tularensis (10 strains) is presented. This medium in fluid form yields higher viable cell counts and supports growth from smaller inocula than did Snyder''s broth. Parenteral virulence was the same in both media. In agar form this medium also supports growth equal to or better than on recommended media for Bacillus anthracis, Brucella abortus, Brucella melitensis, Brucella suis, Coccidioides immitis, Malleomyces pseudomallei and Pasteurella pestis. Keywords
