Abstract
18 patients with metaherpetic corneal lesions were treated after perforating keratoplasty additionally with the virostatic trifluorothymidine to prevent a herpetic recurrence. During a follow-up period of at least 1 year there was a recurrence in 11 % of the cases. This result is – compared with 53% recurrences of previous own cases before the use of a specific virostatic – considerably better.
