Abstract
Laser-noise analysis is presented for colored, multiplicative noise, as well as additive, spontaneous emission noise. A novel technique employing first-passage-time analysis recently used by Roy et al. provides the measured data and a two-dimensional dynamical model of the phenomena. A one-dimensional, contracted model is proposed which enables one to derive formulas characterizing the mean first-passage time and its variance. The agreement with the measured data strongly supports the validity of the effective Fokker-Planck equation recently introduced for colored, multiplicative noise. Keywords
