Abstract
Investigations on the localization of the centers controlling the gonadotropic function of the hypophysis were carried out on adult female rats. Brain lesions were made by means of a new instrument (Hillarp, Acta physiol. Scandinav. 14, 257, 1947) in various regions of the hypothalamus. The expts. pointed to the existence of a center controlling the secretion of luteinizing hormone from the hypophysis situated in the anterior hypothalamic area immediately anterior and ventral to the paraventricular nucleus. A fairly well demarcated fiber system seemed to run from the center superficially on both sides of the median eminence down towards the hypophyseal stalk.[long dash].Keywords
