Abstract
The several chemical compositions assigned to the Hebridean Plateau Magma Type are critically re-examined. These ‘ averages ’ lack conformity with the known modal composition of fresh representative lava examples. The Type, like its Hawaiian counterpart, is probably nepheline normative. New analytical data are discussed. Keywords
