Abstract
Carcinonemertes carcinophila lives on the gills of 9 crabs until the host spawns, migrates to the egg mass and lays its own eggs and then retturns to the gills. Crabs which have spawned have large red worms on the gills while crabs which have not spawned have only small white worms. In lower Chesapeake Bay, the percentage of mature 9 crabs infested increases throughout the summer and reaches 95% in winter. About 97% of the 9 crabs which have spawned have large red nemer-teans on the gills. Keywords
