Salmonellosis: Report of an Unusual Case

Abstract
A 10-month-old Negro child was admitted with complaints of pain on movement of the right arm. The shoulder joint was aspirated and cultured for pathogenic bacteria. The organism isolated was Salmonella enteritidis. The patient was treated with ampicillin, 1 mg. per kg. per day. At the time of a repeat aspiration, 1 Gm. of ampicillin was injected directly into the joint. The patient recovered with no known sequelae.
