Activity of Phenol, Ethyl Alcohol, and Isopropyl Alcohol in the AOAC Official, First Action Tuberculocidal Test

Abstract
The reproducibility of results in the test procedure against the pure chemical phenol, using the test organism Mycobacterium tuberculosis var. bovis (BCG), was investigated. The method showed a remarkable degree of precision. The tuberculocidal activity of various concentrations of ethyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol was also investigated, since these two chemicals have been widely used as tuberculocidal agents.
