Abstract
The course of patients who underwent radical operations for prostatic carcinoma was followed for at least 10 years in 108 cases. In this series there was no operative mortality, but the operation is not free from danger, and there were 10 cases of lasting post-operative incontinence. Of 15 patients who underwent radical perineal prostatectomy before 1947, 7 were living and well 10 years later. Their expectancy of life after operation was therefore little different from that of normal men at age 70.Keywords
