Abstract
Summary Inoculation with NWS of certain diploid cell strains derived from human embryonic lung resulted in production of infective and hemagglutinating virus coincident with induction of CPE. Diploid strains varied in susceptibility to infection with NWS virus. Influenza virus strains other than NWS did not induce the formation of infective virus and were not serially propagable in diploid cultures. However, in high concentration other influenza viruses induced CPE and the formation of incomplete virus. Keywords
