Abstract
The definition of the fundamental linguistic concepts — sentence, word, part of speech, morpheme and phoneme — has always been regarded as extremely difficult. The present article is an attempt to provide an approach whereby a rigid definition of those concepts whose definition is desirable might be attained. A necessary preliminary is a brief examination of the difficulties that arise. Keywords
