Abstract
Affected plants show a large increase in % of dry matter, cease growing and seldom recover. Sugar and starch increase enormously in the leaves, stems and roots of blighted plants. Carbohydrate synthesis and translocation but not carbohydrate utilization are checked in the early stages of the disease. Total N decreases in blighted leaves. The soluble fraction increases in all parts of blighted plants, but translocation upward from the roots apparently ceases. The chemical changes in this disease are different from those in beets affected with curly top, although the 2 diseases are said to be caused by the same virus. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
