Abstract
One set of optimum signal waveforms for unidirectional transmission with minimum error probability, when the interference is additive gaussian noise, consists of sequencies of binary waveforms resembling a modified Reed Code. The binary waveforms considered here are phase-shifted sinusoids. The theoretical design of the receiver is given such that the reference signal required for correlation detection is directly generated from the message signal itself. Thus multipath and doppler are automatically compensated for. Keywords
