Abstract
The paper discusses the properties, operational requirements and obstacles facing the use of the Josephson junction in large scale technology. Discussion of this superconducting device leads to the realisation that its technological importance will increase greatly because of its amazing switching speed and low power dissipation leading to more efficient and denser packaging. Keywords
