Abstract
We present a perturbative calculation of strange-quark production by the processes , , and in a quark-gluon plasma containing gluons that are effectively "massive" due to medium effects. We consider only transverse polarizations of the gluons. We find that for a gluon mass beyond 300 MeV the one-gluon decay dominates, and that there is an enhancement of production from massive gluons compared with the massless case.
