Abstract
The analytical properties of the relevant, nonrelativistic magnetoplasma dispersion function demonstrate the stability of arbitrary particle populations of isotropic velocity distributions with respect to the propagation of electromagnetic waves along the ambient magnetic field. The corresponding stability of complete spherical‐shell velocity distributions, as frequently encountered in cometary investigations, follows. Keywords
