High-temperature modifications of alkali azides

Abstract
On heating, CsN 3 and RbN 3 each undergo a transition from a tetragonal α phase to a cubic β phase. The latter was found to be of the cesium-chloride type with unit-cell dimensions a CsN3 = 4.53° and a RbN3 = 4.35°, respectively. Transformation temperatures and transformation enthalpies were determined. High-temperature modifications of KN 3 and NaN 3 do not exist.
