Abstract
Increased planting of hybrid corn resistant to the rice Weevil Sitophilus oryzae (L.) has resulted in natural infestations too low for rating of breeding material and new hybrids for resistance. A method of supplementing natural infestations by broadcasting collected weevils through the yield tests was used. A system for evaluating corn yield test entries for resistance or susceptibility was developed which used both percent of ears infested and the degree of infestation. The resulting figure represents percent kernel infestation for the entry, which approximates actual loss in yield. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
