The Impact of a Death Education Program for Nurses in a Long-Term Care Hospital

Abstract
The authors assessed the impact of a death education program for nursing staff of a long-term care institution. Analysis of nurses' chart entries (problem-oriented record format — POR) revealed a statistically significant increase from pre- to post-course in charting of patients' subjective state. While the entries in the Subjective section of the POR changed from pre- to post-test, there was no evidence that these observations were implemented (i.e., no significant changes were found for the Objective, Assessment, and Plan sections of the POR).
