Mouse Macroglobulin Antibody to Sheep Erythrocytes: A Non-Complement-Fixing Type

Abstract
Summary: The sera of mice immunized with sheep erythrocytes were found to contain two types of macroglobulin anti-sheep erythrocyte antibody. One type fixes complement and is hemolytic; the second type cannot fix complement or lyse red cells except in the presence of rabbit anti-mouse macroglobulin antiserum. The ratio of the non-hemolytic to hemolytic serum antibody increased during the course of the primary response.
