Sexual harassment: The problem and its consequences

Abstract
Sexual harassment in the workplace has a significant effect on women's employment and women's psychological health in employment. The costs are considerable both in terms of individual suffering and also in terms of the economic cost to the workplace. Although primarily affecting women, it is not simply a ‘women’s issue', and must be seen to concern and be unacceptable to men and women who work alongside the victims of sexual harassment and are responsible for their protection and safety within the workplace This paper describes three cases of sexual harassment at work, all of whom developed psychiatric disorder suggestive of major psychological trauma
