Abstract
Carcinoma of the breast was seen in 7 children, ages 3 to 15 years. The clinical presentation in all cases was that of a painless mass in the breast adjacent to the nipple without associated endocrinopathy. On histological review, the tumors were found to have certain morphological features which serve to distinguish them from carcinoma in the adult breast. In addition, their behavior was noted to be less aggressive than their adult counterparts, only 1 case treated initially by excisional biopsy having recurred. In no case was regional or distant metastasis observed, all patients currently being free of disease for periods up to 15 years.
