Abstract
THIS study attempts to evaluate the incidence of susceptibility to diphtheria and the sensitivity to diphtheria toxoid among elderly persons. In addition, a pilot study on a method of immunizing susceptible elderly people is described.Diphtheria is ordinarily considered a disease of childhood, and thirty years ago the great majority of cases did occur in the first few years of life. According to Schick,1 67 per cent of cases occurred between the ages of two and six years, and diphtheria was "rarely observed in adult life." Similarly, Top2 stated that 80 per cent of cases occurred before the age of . . .Keywords
