Abstract
Summary In this paper the way in which an inviscid incompressible fluid changes its total pressure is discussed. The basic equations are set out and it is shown that changes in total pressure are essentially associated with time variable flows. Simple examples are worked to illustrate this and finally application is made to single-stage flow machines, using a simple vortex representation. Keywords
