Infrared Pressure Broadening in the ν6 Band of Propynal

Abstract
Pressure broadening of individual rotation‐vibration lines in the ν6 band of propynal has been measured. The pressure dependence of the extinction coefficient was measured for a line coinciding with the P(12)CO2 laser line at 951.193 cm−1. The line shape was measured directly, using a tunable lead—tin—telluride diode laser, for a different line near 942.8 cm−1. A broadening parameter of (64±25) MHz/torr, corresponding to an optical diameter of (20±4) Å, was found in the first case, and values of (22±4) MHz/torr and (12±1) Å in the second.
