Low-temperature dielectric properties of SrTiO3alumino-borate glass-ceramics

Abstract
The influences of Nb2O5 on the crystallization behaviour of glasses in the system SrO-TiO2-B2O3-Al2O3 and on the low-temperature dielectric properties of the formed strontium titanate aluminoborate glassceramics have been investigated. Glass-ceramics with large relative temperature sensitivity of the dielectric constant (dln ϵ'/dT) were developed. Dielectric constant versus temperature of the glass-ceramics is strongly dependent on the niobium content. For Nb2O5 contents between about 2 and 3 mol% glass-ceramics derived from the glasses by crystallization under optimum conditions have dln ϵ'/dT > 1.10−2 K−1 over the whole measuring range of 4- 100 K. It is proposed that the large relative temperature sensitivity is related to relaxation processes occurring in the formed Sr1-x/2Nb x Ti1-x O3 cubic crystalline phase.
