Abstract
Ochronosis is an inherited disorder of metabolism of tyrosine and phenylalanine, with production of alkaptonuria. It is commonly associated with arthritis, prostatic calculi and cardiovascular disease. Two brothers with the disorder are reported. There is a brief discussion of the laboratory tests, including a slight modification of the Fishberg test which was necessary to obtain a positive result in these patients. Pertinent reports from the world''s literature have been reviewed. Keywords
