Multiplet splitting (broadening) of the Ru LII, III edge white lines in the x-ray absorption near edge spectra of Ru(NH3)6Cl3

Abstract
It is shown that the linewidth broadening of the Ru LII, III edge white lines of Ru(NH3)6Cl3 can be accounted for on the basis of final state multiplet splitting. The spread in the final state exchange energy has been calculated to be ∼0.5 eV, which is in reasonable accord with the observed broadening.Keywords
