Abstract
A method is proposed for the exact microscopic computation of the Coulomb exchange interaction in both elastic and inelastic heavy-ion scattering. For comparison with customary Coulomb approximations the method is applied to the elastic scattering of on and on . It turns out that bound state and resonance energies are lowered noticeably and resonance widths become correspondingly smaller.
