Abstract
A canine model of unilateral aortofemoral bypass was utilized to study periprosthetic infections in woven, knitted and velour Dacron vascular prostheses. These studies suggest that physical configuration, porosity and time of inoculation are important variables when managing an [Staphylococcus aureus] infected prosthesis, size of inoculum seems less important.
