Abstract
Data from completed suicides in New Jersey [USA] in 1970 were examined to see if completed suicides were more common at the time of the new moon. The procedure of Jones and Jones, who reported a positive association, was followed. The number of suicides in a 3-day period centered around the new moon and the number of suicides in a 3-day period centered around the full moon were compared with the number of suicides in the remainder of the yr. The numbers observed in these 3 time periods did not differ significantly from the numbers expected. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
