The Learning Centre at the Montreal Children's Hospital has provided an opportunity for the staff-teachers and psychologists-to get to know more about children who are having trouble at school or who seem to be developing unevenly. We have been able to take the time to study these children extensively to find out what their strengths and weaknesses were; we have been able to teach some of them, either individually or in small groups, experimenting with a variety of training techniques to help them learn more effectively; we have been able to make suggestions to parents and to keep in touch to find out how they worked. Gradually our understanding of learning problems has increased.
