Abstract
The sera of 51 patients with salpingitis were tested for complement-fixing antibodies against PPLO. Half the patients gave a positive reaction, compared with less than 4% of healthy female blood donors. Titers were on the order of 10 to 40 units. The proportion of positive serum reactions against PPLO was similar in those patients from whom gonococci were isolated and those in whom gonoccocci could not be found. It was believed that PPLO infection coexisted with gonorrhea in many cases. However, it was felt that in some cases PPLO was the sole infective agent.
