Abstract
The quantity log[(τ/c)0λ] is found to vary linearily with log(m—1) if α is kept constant. The relationship is valid as long as α does not exceed about 2/3 of that value at which the first turbidity maximum is attained. This relationship can be used for precise and accurate interpolations of theoretical (τ/c)0 data, derived from the Mie theory, for any intermediate m values. To a limited extent, extrapolations to m values pertinent to aerosols are also possible. The α and m range of practical usefulness of the graphical or numerical method of interpolation or extrapolation is quantitatively defined. Keywords
