Abstract
Measurements of the b axis dielectric and pyroelectric constants of the diacetylene monomer 1,6-bis(2,4-dinitrophenoxy)-2, 4-hexadiyne (DNP) have been made in the temperature range 10-300 K. A transition from a high temperature nonpolar state to a low temperature polar state accompanied by an anomaly in the dielectric constant is observed at 31 K. The effects of solid state polymerization of DNP are reported where the transition is found to be suppressed with increasing polymerization. Keywords
