Abstract
The mean life span of erythrocytes of a marmot treated with glycine-2C14 was 36 [plus or minus] 2 days. A marmot kept in a cold room, without hibernation, had a mean red cell life (measured as 50% destruction of cells carrying C14) of 65 [plus or minus] 6 days and a similar one kept in a cold room for 89 days, had a mean cell life of 95 [plus or minus] 6 days. In a marmot hibernating from the 42d-66th day in a cold room the survival time of the erythrocytes was 112 [plus or minus] 7 days. Keywords
