Abstract
After intravenous injection of C14-labelled Aldrin in male rabbits, the major part of the radioactivity is eliminated in the urine rather than the feces. Column and thin-layer chromatography allowed 8 metabolites to be Isolated from the urine, some of which could be identified. Trans-6,7-Aldrin-diol (metabolite VII), with 43%, is the main breakdown product. Two other metabolites, III and IV, derived from this diol by acylation, were also isolated. In addition to the trans form, a less hydrophillc Aldrin-diol (VI) of unknown structure was isolated; it Is not identical, however, with the cis-6,7-Aldrta-dlol obtained from Aldrin and KMnO4.
